The country’s workers may be crawling back to the office, but commercial real estate professionals are leading the return to personal work.

The latest Apto National Broker Buzz Poll shows that 88% of brokers are back in the office working it out. More specifically, 42% say they are back full-time, 19% work on a hybrid schedule, 8% have never stopped going to the office, and about one in five say their home office is their headquarters – so work has never stopped.

Still, uncertainty remains for many people: 11% of brokers say they’re not sure when they’ll go back to the office with their colleagues because their company hasn’t set up return-to-work plans or protocols. The Apto Poll was performed in August in the weeks leading up to Labor Day. Thousands of brokers, mostly in the US, were invited to participate in the poll.

In addition, nearly half of respondents (47%) say their colleagues are back in the office full-time, with 26% following a hybrid work schedule.

Commenting on the results of the poll, Tanner McGraw, himself a former CRE broker and founder of Apto, said: “Most brokers don’t make a living unless they sort it out, and sure enough, the vast majority of them have a hard time getting it. deals done for clients I dare say commercial real estate brokerage is an essential service but to keep the wheels of the economy turning it is up there.”

Productivity declines as real estate teams work from home

Employee productivity has taken a knock on commercial real estate professionals who work from home rather than in the office with their team members. 31% say their productivity has declined due to remote working during the pandemic. 22% say productivity has increased and 47% say productivity has remained the same.

Brokers say their teammates’ productivity dropped even more than their own. 39% report a drop in team member productivity, 15% see an increase, and 46% say teammate productivity has been about the same.

Brokers miss the human contact of their colleagues

Realtors are “people-people” as we know, so it’s no surprise that they miss the face-to-face interaction with people. When asked whether they agree with the statement “I miss having more people around in person,” 76% of real estate agents answered yes, while 24% said they prefer the solitude of home.

Do mediation teams have to meet in a workplace at least a few days a week? 58% say it is very important, 29% say it is somewhat important and 13% say it is not important.

Vaxx to the maximum

Asked directly whether they have been vaccinated against the Coronavirus, 79% of brokers say yes, 12% say no, and 9% refuse to answer the question.
