Creamy Peppermint Punch

This rich and creamy peppermint punch recipe will be the hit of your Christmas parties! It takes minutes to make, tastes great and has such a beautiful, festive look!

ingredients

  • 8
    cups
    vanilla ice cream
    softened
  • 1
    cup
half and half (10% milk fat)
  • 1
    cup
    sparkling water, chilled
  • 1/2
    tablespoon
    peppermint extract
  • crushed candy canes

instructions:

  1. Put the ice cream in the punch bowl. Add the half and half and the sparkling water and mix until well blended. Add peppermint extract to taste.

  2. Pour into glasses and garnish with crushed candy canes.

Recipe Notes

Ice should be softened at room temperature for 5-10 minutes before making, but should not be melted.

Peppermint Punch Variations

I’ve made this recipe a few times and tried a few different variations…

  • Use sugar cane or peppermint ice cream instead of vanilla ice cream and you can skip the peppermint extract. The downside is that you can’t control the amount of peppermint flavor like you can with the extract.
  • Make it a bit lighter by using regular milk instead of half and half.
  • Make a grown-up version by adding some peppermint schnapps.
  • Rim the glass with Christmas-colored rim sugar or crushed candy canes.
  • Add a candy cane for a stir stick.

Tips for serving and storing

This punch is so quick and easy to put together that I usually make it right before serving. It will last a few hours in the punch bowl without being refrigerated. If you want to make it ahead of time, you can make it a few hours ahead and keep it in the fridge.

I also put leftovers in the freezer in an airtight container. When you’re ready to drink it, let it soften to the point that you can put it in the blender and give it a quick blend. You can also use popsicle molds and make some peppermint pops!

I hope you enjoy this as much as we do!
