How long have you lived/worked in your province/area?

I am proud to say that I am a resident of Bandon. I grew up just outside the city. Bandon is known as the gateway to West Cork.

Favorite public facility in your area?

That should be the Graham Norton Walk. Named after the chat show host, the Graham Norton Walk is a fantastic walkway along the river.

Favorite restaurant/coffee shop?

Bandon has many good restaurants and cafes. Patrick serves delicious homemade pizzas, The Poacher’s Inn is known for their seafood and Michelle’s house & Warren Allen are great places for coffee and cake.

Is there a local market or farmers market?

The Country Market is open on Friday and Saturday. They have a great selection of homemade jams, quiches, desserts and flowers. The farmers market is held every Saturday in the city center. It is a bustling place with plenty of food stalls with pancakes, coffee, fresh vegetables, plants etc.

Best takeaway?

Well that should be Patrick. It is a family business that buys local fresh produce. The lasagna with garlic bread is my favorite. Don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself when you visit Bandon.

Favorite pub?

Bandon has many fine bars. The old market bar has undergone a refurbishment in recent years. It is a spacious and comfortable bar with a great friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to their reopening soon. The copper forest is a popular bar with great food and is a popular venue for family gatherings.

Favorite sports accommodation?

Well, I’m not much of an athlete. Bandon GAA Pavilion is an excellent amenity for the city, Bandon Rugby Club and Bandon Golf Club ensures that the city has a great mix of sports facilities.

The Clare O’Leary Walk is a lovely walkway that follows the path of the old Cork-Bandon Railway.

Area of ​​scenic beauty?

The newly built Bandon Footbridge is a spectacular sight. The Bandon River and the riverside walkway.

Best children’s attraction in the area?

The playground and skate park are extremely popular with children. Money is constantly being raised for the children’s playground, so better things are coming.

Is there a must see in your area?

The majestic River Bandon and its weir with its wildlife is a must see. A beautiful footbridge has been built in recent years.

Bandon has a great community spirit and friendly people. The town is less than 20 minutes from the western suburbs of Cork City and within easy reach of spectacular coastal towns and villages. We have the best of both worlds in Bandon.
